I forgot that this year is a leap year! Which means that I will actually have 366 photos. This changes everything. ...Well, not quite.
But today in Vancouver our "extra day" was one of snow. I woke up today to a winter wonderland. This photo was taken on my way to UBC endowment lands.

I had already taken 2 potential photos of the day today, and on my way home from work tonight was thinking about which to put up here. However, upon my arrival at the ol' homestead, I saw a bright green envelope on the table addressed to me, one which had clearly come all the way from Spain! I nearly burst into tears I was so excited. Inside, a birthday card from 3 of the most wonderful people I know - Randi, Monica, and Jenny. I had a long, boring night at work and a mediocre day. But receiving this made my day go from a 6 to a sure 10. What a special piece of mail! I'm STILL smiling, for goodness sakes!

Oh just another day at the office. The view was so incredible today that my eyes were almost over-stimulated -- Stanley Park, part of downtown, the North Shore, the ocean, the beach, cute kids running around and snow sprinkled mountains. See what I mean?! But I'd call this grateful and blessed over-stimulation.
[I tend to have a few of these 'scenic shots' ... but it's so hard NOT to take photos of this view. Can you imagine what it looks like if I tell you this picture does the real thing ZERO justice?!]

Sunday Funday!
It's sunny out!
This is Amy's house!

Before going to Theatre Sports on Granville Island tonight (which was THE BEST, by the way) I got to play with Kiersten and Logan's new puppy, Macy. SO CUTE.

February 23, 2012

Just finished this book tonight. And due to the fact that I have recently acquired a Kindle, I feel as though this will be my last "real" book for some time. And a good one at that - with a major psychological twist at the end. Seriously, if you dig crime drama, read this.
Next up? I have a list the length of my right arm of books I need to read, but tonight impulsively bought Tina Fey's new book, which was not on my list...but after reading the first few pages and laughing out loud more often than not, I knew it was the right choice. And hey, I have no school to worry about so I can read whatever I want!

Spring, is that you?!
Today was the CRAZIEST weather day - a crisp, sunny day became a downpour and grey skies day which then became sun and rainbows. Keepin' me on my toes Van weather! But at least these cute little flowers are a reminder that spring is just around the corner.

Steamworks hostie party! Featuring managers Angie and Dani. A very, very funny night. We ladies know how to do it up real big.

February 20, 2012

It was an aquarium day today! (Nearly every other adult and child in the surrounding area apparently thought so too..) But seriously, the aquarium never gets less awesome.

February 19, 2012

Brunch with the one and only Suzanne Koskinen, my beach neighbour! We planned a Mario-Koskinen July long weekend party at the lake, beer darts and all.

February 18, 2012

Until 2:30 today when I had to start getting ready for work, this here is all my day consisted of - PJs, guitar, and so much show-watching. I can't remember the last time (or if ever?!) I had a day like this...where I literally accomplished nothing. I felt incredibly guilty at first, until I realized that embracing it would feel better. Sometimes days of nothing are so much more necessary than you think.

Alright, I've lived in Vancouver for almost 5 years now. After 2 years, I got used to the rain. Today was an exception. I haven't felt this irritated and frustrated and annoyed by the rain since early in my second year of university. But today, the downpour got to me. However! It completely makes me all the more grateful for the beautiful days - because those are the days that make living in this rainy city worth it.

Today is my 23rd birthday! I couldn't think of a better way to spend it than skiing in Whistler (even if there's no pow & the visibility is no good at all). All that matters is that I'm doing something I love and with the best of company :)

Babies are cute.

February 14, 2012

A short day trip to America! The land of opportunity.
Cody, Tanner, and I trekked down to the outlet malls outside of Seattle to do some damage. I was fairly successful.

Kristin and I went on a wicked backyard adventure today! We found sticks, 'painted' rocks and fished in puddles with said sticks, and hunted for raccoons.

Sunday brunch with some beautiful girls! (Gibb, Stace, and Meggers)

February 11, 2012

On my way to work.
I really like these buildings.
Early morning Gastown is the best time - very few slow-walking-picture-taking-always-in-the-way tourists are out yet and thus my patience remains intact! :)

One of the main joys of not being in school: getting to spend the morning reading a book I want to read, a Patricia Cornwell novel - crime drama at its finest.

February 9, 2012

Whistler day!
As you can see, visibility was very limited at the top and the snow was not awesome. But Cody and I made the best of it! We skied the same run all morning...and went real fast. The best part was being able to find out how fast we were going on the Whistler iphone app...best app ever. Unfortunately (and only for now!) he beat me ever so slightly at 109 km/h, my speed was 108 km/h.

Late night skype sesh with the bro. Figured it was only fair if Ali got her own day ;-)

February 7, 2012

Was a bit thrown for a loop today after reading this Halls wrapper.

One of the best parts of being a nanny is being able to regress several years while no one judges you.

February 5, 2012

Alright, if you don't already know, this hummus is life-changing-ly delicious. The best out there. Don't judge my photo choice until you have tried it.  They stopped selling it at my local grocery market, but I happened to come across it today. Score! Needless to say, documentation was necessary. (It also makes up for having to watch my two least favourite teams play in the Superbowl)

February 4, 2012

Today Cody, Tanner and I biked the sea wall for Cody's belated birthday activity. We decided that it's winter days like this (10 degrees and sunny) that make all those awful, rainy days worth it.

February 3, 2012

An afternoon adventure with K.Gibb and Bre! A little walk along the sea wall from the West End to work at Steam town. Gosh darn we live in a beautiful city.
Van city + sun = the best day ever.

February 2, 2012

Thursday evening: En route to Fort Langley.
A sunny 55 minute commute out to the 'burbs for dinner at the Punnett residence. Delicious. And I was even sent home with leftovers! It was a nice breath of fresh air away from the city. Thanks Jenny!

Oh Commercial Drive, how I love you.
I was on my way to yoga today and thought about how much I love living on The Drive...
I see some pretty bizarre things and some pretty weird and creepy people.
But I adore my neighbourhood so much. It is beautiful and fun and alive with the most unique of people. There is always a spot to have a coffee or to have a beer. There is always something to see or something to hear, and always a park bench to sit on and people-watch. I love that there are 3 fresh produce stands within 2 blocks, that you can find the best vegetarian poutine in town down the street, and that people still smile at you when you walk past each other (even though I'm usually smiling at their dog...).
I don't think there's anywhere else in the world I'd want to live at this time in my life.
