And just like that I'm back to a snowy reality. Almost straight off the plane to work. Yet even though I'm exhausted from starting the flying process at 5:30 in the morning and mad at myself for greedily not booking off the night at work, my short trip has made me feel incredibly re-energized and ready to take on whatever comes my way. And very ready to book those flights to a land far, far away :)

Randi and Britt adventure to Heffley Lake where the Weiss cabin is.

It was a beautifully crisp day. Rand and I took Putter (her dog) for a walk around the pond near the cabin. The walk was beautiful - we were surrounded by big mountain trees, breathing in the fresh air, talking about life.

After our little mountain walk and a lunch break at Sun Peaks we headed back home for more guitar playing in the cozy guitar room, followed by a hilarious adventure to a random yoga class downtown ('Strong Flow Yoga'), and ended our day with a favourite Christmas movie, Love Actually.
I can't think of a better way to spend 3 days other than doing exactly what we did.

It was perfectly peaceful and rejuvenating and inspiring. Friendship is just so great!

Full day 1 of 2 in the Okanagan at the home of Randi Weiss & family.
.
Alright so I'm a bit late on posting...3 days I think - eek! But in my defence I was loving life way too much to think about anything other than the present moment. Our days were so full of wonderful things that by the end I was exhausted. This day was jam-packed with guitar and singing, tea, walks, yummy food, a trip to Bed Bath & Beyond, and Glee!

Oh my goodness, so much guitar we played! Randi and I learned a great duet...Little Talks by Of Monsters and Men. Such a good sing-along song. We played until our fingers hurt. It was so special to be able to sit in the coziest of rooms and play guitar like we used to in the Graveley House.

November 26, 2012

Off I fly to Kamloops to see my dear friend Randi who I haven't seen since January when she left for her crazy world trip! That's 10 whole months! She is visiting North America for a couple weeks and I was lucky enough to use some Airmiles and fly to Kamloops to visit her. It's going to be a whirlwind of a few days but also probably the BEST few days ever - guitar, tea, Glee, Christmas music, singing, and the pure joy of friendship! Yikes, I'm a cheeseball.

November 25, 2012

Oh just another shot of the dogs and the park and the beautiful open sky. My life seems a bit lame right now but it's definitely not lacking things of beauty.

November 24, 2012

No work tonight = sozializing. FINALLY. It's been a long week of double shifts and a definite lack of socializing. I made up for it tonight by heading to Flip with Mel for dessert and some drinks (Gin Picnics - YUM) and then to O'Hanlons  to meet up with some work friends for some classic Saturday night fun.

November 23, 2012

HOLY SMOKES I have cute puppies.

November 22, 2012

Day 2 of 3 doubles. On my extremely short break all I had time for was eating lunch and watching football at the bar. It was too cold and far too snowy to even think about leaving the building for 45 minutes. Thank youuuu American Thanksgiving for giving me football all day and night on a Thursday! Yahoooo!

November 21, 2012

A long but good day at work was pleasantly split up by a sushi date at Orange with Trudy! YUM!

November 20, 2012

My day off before a crazy few days at work (3 double shifts in a row) was spent gettin' stuff done -- laundry, cleaning, and learning Spanish. Today I did so much Rosetta Stone my eyes feel like they're going to fall out. All for the greater good!

November 19, 2012

Okay well we all know how attached I am to my dogs. So it shouldn't come as a surprise when I tell you I had a dream about Jet last night. Except it was awful - I dreamt that Jet was a wee little puppy and was following me around when I was out and I lost him. I woke up all sad and couldn't bear to leave the dogs alone for too long. So instead of going to the gym before work, I took the puppies for a run in the lovely sun. Attached at the hip, these two.

November 18, 2012

A beautiful sunset I managed to capture on my way out the door to Sunday dinner at Auntie's. These skies never get old.

November 17, 2012

Let the Christmas decorating begin! I went into work this afternoon and we decorated the whole place rather beautifully, if I do say so myself.

November 16, 2012

Another double-shifter at work. Except this time I had way less time in between shifts. BUT just enough time to go out and buy myself an actual winter coat that isn't my big baggy ski jacket.
This is a photo of the event I worked tonight...a 3 course dinner for a bunch of pharmacists talkin' about cardiovascular something-or-other. My sister would probably have loved working an event like this (she's all left-brained and such...aren't ya Ali? ;))...but my right-side-oriented-brain couldn't stop psychologically and sociologically analyzing both the individual people and the group as a whole rather than give a hoot about what they were talking about! Hehe.

(Sorry for using you as an example, Al. I know you would have loved this!)

November 15, 2012

Because of the long weekend, this week has been kinda funny. And by funny I just mean I lose track of days. So to be completely honest, I haven't posted my picture until now because I had convinced myself that I already posted it! So I looked back through my phone and crossed my fingers that I had taken at least one photo yesterday. And this is it -- Jet hangin' out on the stairs like it's his day job. This day I also worked a double shift at the restaurant. It was a long morning/afternoon at work followed by a fairly exhaustion-inducing evening. In between these I had a great but intense workout at Level10. Needless to say, today was extremely uneventful and uninteresting. But when all else fails, I can almost always trust that I'll have at least one photo of my dogs. ;) So much cuteness.

November 14, 2012

Another dog-walkin' day. Took the dogs to a different path today to spice things up a little. HAHA you know you don't have a life when you get excited about walking the dogs on a new bike path. Well, it was a beautiful sunny day and I loved it.

November 13, 2012

A late afternoon walk with the dogs. I think it's possible that I may be getting used to the cold. Slowly but surely. The warming up the car and scraping windows thing still gets me. But I forgot how much I loved this sun. This clear afternoon sky was also followed by some northern lights late at night. Truly gives meaning to "Land of the living skies."

November 12, 2012

Day 2 of 2 at the beach was a sunny one! We pulled the quad out and decided the best use of our time was to ride kneeboards (because we couldn't find normal toboggans) behind it on the valley road. All Matt's idea. This is how you make use of a prairie winter.

November 11, 2012

Today the family took a trip out to the lake, again to avoid the whole kitchen under construction thing. And after that insane amount of snow we just got over the past 2 days, it was an incredibly beautiful winter wonderland! A chilly one, at that. We watched football, ate yummy fresh food, drank caesars, and hot tubbed. A perfect way to spend a Sunday.

November 10, 2012

A lovely little candy cane latte, perfect for a snowy day running errands and shopping with my mom and sister!

November 9, 2012

Today we have a heavy snowfall warning here in Regina. And snow it has! It's only 1:30 in the afternoon and there's gotta be almost a foot out there.
And here are some cuties loving it! Matt came home at lunch and we played with the dogs in the snow. Jet was so funny...he would lay down, stick his face RIGHT in the snow, shake his head, then get up and run around and do it all over again.
CUTE!

November 8, 2012

These were from an event I worked tonight at Crave. So cute!
Leftovers for staff = sugar high!

November 7, 2012

Kitchen reno update: our ceiling is being redone/painted...which means almost the entire main level of the house is covered in plastic like this, and that our space to live in has gone from small to smaller, and that it kind of looks like a weird futuristic movie or something about quarantine or contamination gone wrong...you know those kind of movies? No? Well maybe I'm just makin' shit up...but it looks weird and space-age-y either way.

Kind of a tough photo pick today...my other one I had to choose from was a beautiful evening prairie sky shot, but I figured one of those a week is plenty, and I already had one a couple days ago. So kitchen update it is.

November 6, 2012

As I watched President Obama win the election tonight, I finished knitting these adorable little baby booties. The victory I felt matched Obama's, I'm sure. ;)

These are for one of my managers at work who is about to have a baby!
And I couldn't have made these without my dear friend Kaitlin. She not only gave me the pattern but she also talked me through it (via text of course) the whole way...even through my obscene and profanity-filled messages when I screwed something up. The best knitting buddy out there!

SO CUTE!

November 5, 2012

On my way to the gym, driving down Courtney St.
For a while now I have wanted to snap a shot of this field because it always looks beautiful. Wish I had my DSLR with me and a badass lens to make this look real cool.
I really do love the prairies.

PS - new layout alert. Kinda girly...but I think it's cute

November 4, 2012

The Mario family (-1) spent the day at the lake today to avoid our construction zone house/kitchen. It's beginning to look a lot like winter out there. And the sheer peacefulness of this place was overwhelming in the best way possible.

November 3, 2012

Today I overcame a huge barrier -- I went for my run outside in the cold and snow. Why is this a huge barrier, you may ask? Because I'm still getting used to being cold all the time, to scraping off my windshield and having to start my car 10 minutes before I leave. So needless to say, running outside seemed like an absurd idea for me. But on this snowy Saturday afternoon I toughened up and was very proud of myself for doing so. I (momentarily) set aside my distaste for being cold. BAM.

November 2, 2012

And the snow begins to fall. The first big hit of the season! The dogs and I had a fun time in the park, after I bundled up in 17 layers, of course.

November 1, 2012

I had such a weird transition moment when I typed out "November." I can honestly not believe it's already November! I think I'm still in that weird transition moment. It's November ...!?!

October 31, 2012

Happy Halloween from the creepiest witch decoration my mother could possibly find!

Tonight I handed out candy to the adorable little children dressed in the most adorable little costumes. Sometimes I was too busy thinking about how cute they were, and probably telling them such, that I forgot to give them candy. Except the ones who rang the doorbell instead of saying trick or treat...they got angry stares. Just kidding. I was just angry inside. Everyone got candy.
