Lunch at The Foundation with Amy! Some of the best vegetarian food around and some of the worst service around. But no one cares because the food is so good. Guess that's what you get when you go to a veggie restaurant in hipsterville, also known as Main St. ;)

A rainy softball day. But a celebratory one! Keeks and Logan got engaged! And it was Logan's birthday! And we won again!

This little thing came in the mail today. Oh and I ripped it because I was being impatient with the envelope. And I got avocado on it. Oops. Well this is cool anyway.

I feel like this adequately sums up our friendship.
Last day Alison and Nik are in Van! Ate food and got way too full. Hit up Stanley Park. Trekked the sea wall. Dissected each other's running technique. Sang Row Row Row Your Boat in rounds (well, Al and I did...Nik not so much). And basically had a jolly good time. Love these guys!

A beautiful day spent in Lynn Valley with my RAD visitors...over the suspension bridge we went and on a jaunt through the forest. A perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon :)

At the Bon Iver show in Deer Lake Park! A beautiful venue, perfect weather, incredible music.
Me and my adorably cute and wonderful friends.

Alison Sakundiak. I have known this girl and been friends with her for 18 years! We go all the way back to kindergarten. She and her boyfriend Nik made the very long drive from Edmonton to visit me in Van city for a few days. It's fun to show off a city you have come to know so well and love so much.

Wednesday night softball. The weather was crazy all day and made for a very chilly and damp evening, but also made for some pretty skies. And we won again!

Roommate morning hangs.
Coffee, catch up chit-chat, emailing far away friends, reading inspiring books.

A creeper shot.
Sitting at the downstairs bar in Steamworks.
It's Jimmy's last shift (the blondie on the left).
Oh what a great action shot of everyone workin' hard ;)
(Also featuring Justin, Brooke, and some new busser guy I don't know the name of).

The second 10 hour work day in a row. Needless to say, my feet hurt, my face hurts from talking, and I want to avoid social situations for at least the next 12 hours. This is the only photo I managed to take - a staged one depicting my exhaustion on a sticky note. Yikes.
Oh and I got a new computer. It's pretty and shiny and fast.

A very long day at work and a rough one at that. My first dine and dash. So saddening!
This is the only photo I could come up with. Skytrainin' at the end of the night.

It was a music day today, my favourite kind of day. Did some songwriting with my lovely friend Kate Isaac, who is also like a big sister to me.

Such a wonderfully sunny day. Summer makes me so happy!
Alright so I had a full and eventful morning and all I wanted to do in the afternoon was lie in the sun with a book. By book I mean my kindle. So I packed up my backpack with snacks and hydration and hopped on my bike and rode to the park not too far from my house. Got my blanket all set up, shoes off, ready to commence reading in the sun. But I pulled out my kindle and THIS is what it told me. I couldn't help but laugh because this obviously doesn't happen with real books. Ah, the pitfalls of a technology-run life.

Today was just an overall great day. Acupuncture first off, then home to tidy up and bring out the summer clothes. Kindie and I then spent the afternoon doing crafts! We made RAD bracelets. We also went to Comor and bought polarized sunglasses - a seriously life-changing event. But the cherry on top of today? Softball has finally started again! The Tailgate is back and back on top with a big W.

I feel like this photo belongs in an "I Spy" book.
After a 10 and a half hour shift at work yesterday, this day off was a dream come true. It mostly consisted of lame but necessary stuff, like laundry (I spy a drying rack with black work clothes), (finally) unpacking from Mexico, cleaning my room, and getting much needed groceries. I did take an inevitable and lengthy guitar break and strummed some old songs I haven't played in a while, which felt great. But the bonus of the day was getting to talk to my dear friend Karlee on skype. I sat on my front porch and chatted with her 2 dimensional face and it was pretty much like we were actually hanging out! I love days off.

Here I go breaking my own rules again...twice in one week! The problem is I didn't take this photograph. It is actually courtesy of my Mama right there. But because it's Mother's Day I'm allowing myself a rule breakage - I want my mom in my pic of the day that lands on Mother's day.
The fam is visiting Grandma in Lumsden. Wish I could have been there! I would have been right smack dab in the middle (being the shortest of the bunch). I showed this picture off to everyone at work today. Seriously aren't they the cutest?!

Finally all caught up in posting!
Today was grand. Work in the evening meant afternoon in the sun.
To sum up: bike ride downtown, Crab Park, good friends, heat, cute dogs running around, Palm Bays, and lots of laughter.
I am so insanely content with my life.

It was was too beautiful of a day to even think about exercising indoors. So I risked the usual potential knee problems that tend to arise from running on pavement/non-level ground and did my run outside today. Hustled over to Trout Lake and did a few laps. This momma and her adorable little ducklings happened to cross my path and it was the CUTEST thing.

Luckily we came back just in time for the sunshine in Van.
This was taken right before work.
Lonsdale Quay.
These boats are cute.

More bad airport luck. A storm in Phoenix. All flights were backed up. Our airplane that we were supposed to be getting on couldn't land in Phoenix and was re-routed to California. We had to wait for that airplane to come BACK to Phoenix before we could leave...which didn't end up being until 10:30 at night. So more airport hanging for us!
This photo is supposed to model the previous day's hilarity...Jenny being me, Stacey being Jenny.

Last full day in Mexico!
This seems like a silly photo for today, but if you knew how hard we laughed at this and for how LONG we laughed at this, you'd understand. Today was the day we surfed. Suited up in wetsuits, rented boards, and paddled out. Stacey, the photographer of our shennanigans, managed to capture this beauty. Of all the "action shots" and fun "jumping pictures" we took, this is by far the funniest and the best. I have a total upside down mouth thing going, Jenny has a weird pouty face going on, and Cody is trying to lunge but really he just looks like a wanna be model or something. Good times.

One of those "this does absolutely no justice to what this actually looked like in real life" photos. Another beautiful sunset at Cerritos Surf Colony.
May 6, 2012
The biggest adventure of them all - ATVing. Holy smokes it was fun. We were toured through the desert and the mountains, through an old riverbed that just 2 years ago had water running through it, but because of the drought it all dried up, and then onto the beach alongside massive waves of turquoise water. It was incredible.

Alright, I'm breaking my own rules here...I honestly couldn't choose 1 photo, because they're both so different. So...2 photos for today.
Photo #1: A big adventure day for the four of us. Today we drove back into Cabo for part of the day and went on quite the journey to see the famous arch - scaling rock walls in bare feet, attempting to avoid being sucked in by the waves, etc...all because we refused to take a water taxi. Funny enough we didn't even end up seeing the damn arch because the tide was too high to get there by foot. But it was both fun and exhausting!
Photo #2: We finished the day off by hiking/walking up the hill that was not far from our place at Cerritos to watch the sun set...and to take silhouette pictures, of course.

Sunset dinner.
After 2 very long days of travel, day three was a super chill-out day. We "slept in" (I was up at 9 and was the last one up...but this is in comparison to our 4am and 5:30am wake-up times both days before), sunscreened our pale skin, and sat by the pool and read for most of the morning. We also took a trip into the town about 10/15 min away from us, called Todos Santos, to get a few more groceries, to explore, and have an authentic Mexican lunch. Thank goodness Jenny can speak some Spanish, because this town is not your average tourist location. Our Todos adventure was followed by more sitting around, and then a nice big healthy dinner and some vino. The background almost seems fake! I assure you it is not. And see that tower looking building behind my left shoulder, that's where yesterday's photo was taken from.

Day 2 of travels. Up early and back to the Phoenix airport. Luckily everything goes smoothly this time and we are on our way to Los Cabos by mid morning! Landed safely in San Jose del Cabo, scooted over to our car rental place and braced ourselves for the final major task (and one with potential issues that could have been endless), renting a car at a decent price. Luckily we had done our research (or rather Cody did) and everything went swimmingly. Car rented, map in hands, Costco stop complete, we made the 1 hour drive to our resort! And it was immediately awesome. We unloaded everything into our beachfront villa and went on an adventure down the beach to this boutique hotel atop a cliff, called Hacienda Hotel, which is owned by the same dude as our little surf colony. After some snooping around we discovered that we could actually go to the very top of this hotel, complete with rickety spiral staircase. The view was incredible. This photo is taken from the very top where you can see forever. Oh and did I mention you have to open a secret bookcase to get up here? And that it used to be an old Mexican mansion?
It was wicked.
It's going to be very difficult to pick just one photo per day. Took me forever to decide on this one.

This pretty much sums up the first day of our trip - hanging in the Vancouver airport.
We were on our way to YVR by 4:45AM. After checking our bags, going through security and waiting in the long customs line, getting Tim Hortons breakfast and coffee, we were finally camped out and ready for our flight. At 6:34 the 3 out of 4 of us who had our phones got a call from a 1-888 number, but only Cody answered it (my first instinct was to be annoyed that a telemarketer was calling this early). He tells us the flight to Phoenix is cancelled, and of course we didn't believe him. Jenny even told me I was just being too gullible! At this point our gate sign still said the flight was a go and confusion started to set in. But the airline left a voicemail after I didn't answer the call and sure enough, after checking it, they said the flight has been cancelled. I should mention it's only 45 minutes until we're supposed to board the plane at this point. There is no agent at the gate to talk to, no announcement that's been made, nothing. People have begun to commune at the gate, all holding phones and all looking just as perplexed and disbelieving as we are. Cody is talking on the phone to someone at the airline (who have still not given a reason for the cancelled flight) and they are telling us the earliest flight we can get to Cabo is Thuraday, TWO more days from now! After some more potential plan-making, Stacey calls the airline back and talks them into getting us an earlier flight. Finally she gets all four of us on a 2:30 flight to Phoenix (7 hours from now) and a flight to Cabo the next morning from Phoenix. Done and done. So we wait around the airport for a very (VERY) long time, are able to get our boarding passes for our flights only to find out that we're first class on both flights!! Score! Anyway, we finally are on the plane and have a wicked first class trip. We get to Phoenix, which is HOT hot hot, and chat with the airline people who put us up in a hotel for the night! We make friends with our shuttle driver, who also recommends a great restaurant (/pub) to eat at, which ends up being wicked. Have I mentioned how HOT it is there?! So we eat dinner, with 3 dollar PBRs, walk around Arizona State University, see the gigantic football stadium, and our heads are on the pillows by 10 because we are so completely exhausted. Of any place to have a night layover, this was the place. Phoenix was a rad time!
An interesting, curb-ball-filled, fun, and and definitely surprising first day of travels.
